How A 100% Plenny Shake Challenge Became A 3-Year Habit
Most people drink Plenny Shake for breakfast or lunch, but every now and then a real biohacker comes along to put our product to the test.
Previously, Lee Primeau, He lived with Plenny Shake for 6 months and at the end of this challenge he had a blood test. So you can imagine the shock we had when someone told us about the 12-month liquid diet with Plenny Shake. And we were even more impressed when we read and saw the results. on our own.
He calls himself the Floating Man, and we asked him about his reasons for following an all-liquid diet. Why? worked so well for him? What are the drawbacks? And what would be your advice to people thinking of doing the same?
"12 months of travel"
First of all, why did you do it? What motivated you to do this kind of experiment?
"A few years ago, I came across news articles of people doing 30-day challenges with these new meal replacement products that claim to provide 100% RDI. That piqued my curiosity, and I wanted to experience it for myself.
I researched which products were right for me. Ultimately, I chose Plenny Shake Vegan because...
- It was the most affordable.
- It had more protein than most of the others.
- It had more flavors.
- It was lactose free (plant based).
What was supposed to be a 30-day experiment turned into a long-term habit. I've been on a Plenny Shake Vegan diet for over a year now and I'm still going strong.
It's become so routine for me now, that it's something I enjoy, like brushing my teeth or taking a shower. I treat it more like a prescription: "Take three of these shakes a day to control your weight and stay alive. Adjust the dosage as needed." Products like these are the closest thing to a pill to give your body the fuel it needs to function," she said.
He added: "My main motivation remains curiosity. I believe this experiment is worthwhile to help determine the minimum requirements that the human body system needs to function. So by eating according to the recommended RDI every day for a long time, I can see if my body reacts in a toxic or deficient way in any area of my health, and thus we can improve our knowledge on the subject."
So when did you start to notice results from this major diet change?
"I started out by using one of those online BMI calculators to help me figure out how many calories I needed per day. I wanted to lose weight, so I made sure I was in a moderate calorie deficit for thirty days. Sure enough, I started losing weight. I lost ten pounds the first month. Excited about the progress, I wanted to keep going for another thirty days. After five months, I was down to thirty pounds. However, I felt like I was too skinny, so I started working out and moderately increased my calories. Like clockwork, I slowly started gaining muscle. After another seven months, I had more muscle than I had ever had in my entire life. That's when I decided to share my progress online."
What was the most positive thing about this Plenny Shake diet?
"The most positive thing about being on a Plenny Shake diet is the convenience. Three of the main conveniences are:
- Time.
- Money.
- Calorie tracking.
As far as time and money, I spend less than 30 minutes a day doing food-related things (meal prep, eating, cleanup). I have no trips to get food, no waiting in line, no refrigeration, no cooking, no wasted leftovers.
It's much cheaper than my previous diet which consisted of cereal, fast/frozen food, and home cooked Filipino dishes.
Plus, I spend a lot of time in the car when I'm away from home for days at a time, and powdered food has been a godsend in that situation.
Regarding calorie tracking, it's stupidly easy to track calories when you eat the same thing every day. Losing/gaining/maintaining weight is all about calorie management. Having the confidence that I can control my weight at will is a superpower I've gained since experimenting with this diet.
What was the biggest negative thing about the Plenny Shake diet?
"The biggest downside to the whole Plenny Shake diet is the social aspect. Sharing meals is a bonding experience for most people, so I miss that part."
I imagine you received tons of comments and possibly even strange looks from people around you. How did people react to your experiment?
"When people first hear about my 100% food powder diet, their knee-jerk reaction is usually disbelief. They can't imagine that something like this can be healthy or sustainable. However, after sharing my progress photos and blood tests, they start to get interested. I've gotten quite a few people who want to incorporate modern meal replacements into their diet after they saw my results."
Reddit user "Dreiter" commenting on the blood results. Now that's what we call "an interesting compliment"
What would you say to a reader who is curious about trying a Plenny Shake-only diet?
"My advice to people curious about trying such a diet would be to start gradually:
Order a sample of all the flavors to see which one you like. Then replace one meal a day at first. When you are used to that, replace another meal and so on until all your meals are replaced.
- Try it for 30 days straight, and I think you'll fall in love with the comfort. After that, you don't need to be 100% like me, unless you want to help increase the testing sample and find out if our current IDR is accurate."
And so she concluded her testimony: "Most people will only want to use it to replace meals when they are busy. It is perfect for your boring, routine meals. You can save the other meals for special occasions with friends and family. I can definitely say that my experiment with this diet has improved my quality of life and I will continue to recommend people to try it."
