How Does Jimmy Joy Manage Its Quality Assurance?

What is quality assurance?
Jimmy Joy's Quality Assurance department ensures the food safety and quality of all our products. This covers the entire production chain, from raw materials to delivery of the final food product, to meet the highest level of customer food safety expectations.
To maintain this, the department is monitoring, verifying and analysing every step of the production process following the guidelines of the BRC Global Food Safety Standard, which is a product and process certification standard known for compliance with industry best practices, and the latest updates from the NVWA (Dutch Food and Consumer Product Safety Authority). We would like to take you through the various stages of the Quality Assurance processes to give you a better idea of how this works.
Quality control
Our quality control starts before the ingredients reach Jimmy Joy; at the level of our ingredient suppliers. We work with suppliers who also follow similar quality systems such as BRC, IFS, ISO or FSSC22000. In addition, products must be clean and free from microbiological, chemical, physical or pest hazards. Through the Certificate of Analysis, we ensure that the ingredients are clean and we test the products through third-party laboratories where we test for major microbiological hazards such as Total Plate Count, Clostridium Perfringes, Bacillus Cereus and Listeria.
The presence of unwanted hazards, such as heavy metals and pesticides, is something we monitor and comply with.

To ensure a safe working environment, a site inspection and glass control inspection are carried out every 2 months. In addition, a pest control company visits us monthly to strengthen and stabilise the premises so that conditions are unfavourable to pests and unwanted physical risks.
In the warehouse
The next step in the process is quality assurance of our own warehouse. Protecting the storage of our raw material and finished products, by maintaining good conditions in the factory, such as keeping a constant cool and dry atmosphere.
The production facility
The next critical step is at the level of our production facilities. Here we produce our products by weighing and mixing ingredients, and then filling and sealing bags. These steps are performed in a climate-controlled room that is specially designed for food preparation. This space is cleaned daily, and deep cleaning is performed monthly to eliminate potential spills and prevent the growth of unwanted bacteria.
Several homogeneity checks have been carried out to optimise the mixing process, which is manually confirmed before sealing each bag. In addition, internal and external calibration of our scales is carried out by comparing the scale display with the value of the standard reference weights and adjusting the machines when necessary, allowing for adequate stabilisation time.
And finally...
We hold quarterly feedback and performance review meetings and train our staff to ensure a high level of understanding of the different safety standards. All of our processes, orders, analyses, inspections and cleaning controls are documented and reviewed by an external auditor once a year, to ensure we are in compliance.
We take your health and safety very seriously, and we are constantly looking for ways to improve and optimize this process. Thank you for your trust, enjoy our Plenny Family!
