Black Friday Deal: You save 15%, We donate 5 meals.
With the world becoming more climate conscious, Black Friday has gotten a bad rap over the years. Think about what all this over-shopping and package deliveries are doing to the environment! So in 2019, we decided to use Black Friday as an opportunity to do something good for the planet. For every order placed during Black Friday/Cyber Monday, we planted a tree. With your help, we managed to plant 1,522 trees! That’s a small Jimmy Joy forest.
Throughout 2020, we continued to make great strides in making Jimmy Joy more sustainable. We went from 5 to 10 meals per bag for the Plenny Shake (meaning 39% less material waste), introduced stackable scoops (from 350 scoops per box to 1,680 scoops per box, resulting in boxes being shipped from the factory to us), and started using Ahiflower in the Plenny Shake Active (one hectare’s worth of Ahiflower produces as much omega-rich oil as 40,000 mackerels or sardines). And as usual, we offer CO2-neutral delivery. However, this year we decided to support a different cause – one that’s closer to home.
Think globally, act locally. We will donate 5 meals worth of meals for every order during BFCM.
As we all know, 2020 took quite an unexpected turn with the outbreak of Covid-19. Many have lost their jobs, are struggling to make ends meet, or are barely able to support themselves or their family with a basic need like food.
In the spirit of “think globally, act locally”, we decided that for every order placed during BFCM, we will donate the value of 5 meals to the Madrid Food Bank.
What does the Food Bank do?
The health crisis caused by Covid-19 has generated a serious food crisis. That is why food donations are more necessary than ever, in order to continue providing a daily meal to 190 thousand people through 540 charities in the Community of Madrid alone.
In 2019 the Food Bank
- Prevented the destruction of 11,000,000 kilos of food
- Distributed 20,670,169 kilos
- Provided 50,820,000 meals
- As of 31 December 2019, it provided a daily meal to 130,044 people through 515 charities.
Will there still be a discount?
From Monday 11-23 to Monday 11-30, a 15% discount will be automatically added to the entire site on purchases without a subscription.You could argue that it's better not to go for Black Friday at all. But we actually want to show that it IS possible for brands to offer a great deal on quality products, use sustainable plant-based ingredients, maintain an ethical supply chain, and still do well as a business.
